FINE PAGAN ART
Johanna Polle (pronouns: she/her) is an independent artist, author, and illustrator. She was born and raised in Northern Germany. After her graduation in media and communication studies and art history from university, Johanna worked in an art house-cinema for a couple of years until she re-discovered her passion for art in 2017.
Johanna is a self taught artist who has been fully self-employed since 2019. While she does the occasional freelance commission, she mostly focuses on creating and selling her own pagan-themed artworks. Johanna runs her own online shop and has published two books and one oracle deck.
Johanna’s first book “Magick at Home” was published in 2020. After four years of creative work and research her card deck “The European Goddesses and Spirits Oracle” was fully funded in under 90 minutes in her 2024 Kickstarter-campaign. The oracle deck as well as the in depth-companion book are both available in her shop.
Johanna’s art is an extension of her individual pagan craft and studies. It is both spiritually charged and deeply personal. She strives to create art that connects with her audience on a deeper level and enriches their own spiritual journeys.
BODY ART
Johanna Polle is a tattoo artist based in Braunschweig, Germany. She currently works as a resident artist in the tattoo parlor Schmierfink and Robird.
Drawing from her extensive background as a professional visual artist and her personal exploration of pagan and occult symbolism, Johanna’s tattoos are their own kind of magic. Her unique style is best described as illustrative pagan black work.
Every tattoo is individually designed, drawn by hand, and inked with love and care. Tattooing in itself is a sacred ritual and an intimate dance between artist and client to commemorate life events, outwardly express personality, and tell our stories.
Tattooing is a form of art, and thus an expression of human experience. There is no place for generative AI in this traditional and inherently handmade process. All of Johanna’s tattoos and artworks are 100% handmade, and created to resonate deeply with their recipients.
