Based in Slavic folklore, the Baba Jaga-Oracle deck explores the topic of transformation, and serves as a tool to guide the reader through the different stages of change. Containing 40 cards with hand-drawn artworks and a guidebook rooted in scholarly sources, this deck was crafted with love and respect for the Eastern European culture it is based on.
Embark on a powerful journey with the pagan goddesses and female spirits of European myth. Johanna’s first indie oracle project consists of a hand-illustrated card deck (including a guidebook) and a thoroughly re-searched companion book featuring 40 deities from Celtic, Germanic, Greek, Norse, and Slavic culture.
The Nachtmarkt (“Night Market”) is a local gathering of occult enthusiasts held in a cozy tattoo parlor. Here you can purchase artisan goods and art, get inked, or just enjoy a beverage with friends. Johanna is part of the team hosting this yearly event, which was held in 2024 and in 2025 in collaboration with Urban Mystic Art and Schmierfink & Robird.

COMMISSIONS
Johanna is available for both private and commercial commissions. She can create cover artworks for books, podcasts or CDs, custom tattoo designs, and has experience in packaging design as well. Johanna creates dark tattoos based on her unique hand-drawn illustrations. Drawing from her extensive background as a professional visual artist and her personal exploration of pagan and occult symbolism, Johanna’s tattoos are their own kind of magic. She works as a resident artist at the “Schmierfink "& Robird”-tattoo parlor in Braunschweig, Germany.

JOHANNA POLLE
Johanna Polle (pronouns: she/her) is an independent artist, author, and illustrator. She was born and raised in Northern Germany. After her graduation in film and media studies and art history from university, she re-discovered her passion for art in 2017.
Johanna is a self taught artist who has been fully self-employed since 2019. While she does the occasional freelance commission, she mostly focuses on creating and selling her own pagan-themed artworks. Johanna runs her own online shop and has published two books and one oracle deck.
Johanna’s first book “Magick at Home” was published in 2020. After four years of creative work and research her card deck “The European Goddesses and Spirits Oracle” was fully funded in under 90 minutes in her 2024 Kickstarter-campaign.
Johanna’s art is an extension of her individual animistic-based practice and studies. It is both spiritually charged and deeply personal. She strives to create art that connects with her audience on a deeper level enriching their own spiritual journeys.

Johanna Polle does not use any generative AI in her work: illustrations, graphic design, photographs, videos, or texts - everything we she puts out into the world was created with her own hands and brain. Any form of AI-generated content is unethical and untenable on any level.
Generative AI is anti-nature (and therefore anti-human), horrendous for the environment, and incredibly harmful for its users’ cognitive functions, as well as their emotional and psychological well-being. Generative AI is a new form of digital, environmental and human exploitation.
