FRAU PERCHTA A5 Art Print

€10.00

Beautiful art print of Frau Perchta - A German Christmas spirit. Perchta is full of dualism: She is a goddess of death and rebirth, darkness and light - and therefore kind of a personification of the festival of Yule itself. In the time between December 21st until January 6th (also called “Rauhnächte” in German) Perchta appears to be the most active. She is the leader of the Wild Hunt, she rewards the good people and punishes the bad. The most characteristic feature of her crone aspect is her huge nose - often replicated on Perchta masks.

In my illustration the crone aspect is represented by the traditional mask Frau Perchta is holding. Her dress is inspired by Winter, her season of ice and snow. Some small details to her dress are the iron chains she is wearing and the little blood splatter on her sleeve reminiscent of the brutal and gory aspects of this mythological figure. The spinning wheels in the background represent her close ties to the craft of spinning and housekeeping.

This art print can be put up on the wall or thanks to its sturdy material be repurposed as a postcard.

The illustration is printed with lush colors on a satin-soft touch surface. The backside can be written on and is blank except for a small logo illustration.

↟ Details

• Material: 330-350gsm premium paper, matte coating on the art print

Please note that the colors may vary slightly due to monitor differences.
